About Us
Our Mission: To welcome all into a fellowship of Christians who proclaim and worship the risen Christ as the
way to eternal life with an uncompromised commitment to the Bible as the true Word of God.
What is the Anglican Church?
Fellowship
The Anglican Church of the Resurrection is a fellowship of Christians who believe
that Jesus is THE way to salvation as He said in the Bible. We, the church, are not perfect, just forgiven.
And we enjoy each other’s company socially as well as spiritually. All are welcome to join us as we seek to
know God and make Him known to the world. If you want to know more, just come and
see.
History and Origin
The Anglican Church is the oldest church in America.
The name Anglican says that our roots are in the Church of England and the Anglican Church first came to
America with the founding of the Jamestown settlement in 1607, more than 400 years ago. Many of our nation’s
founders and great patriots were Anglicans, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and
Alexander Hamilton.
Worship
While the Anglican Church became an independent church in the Protestant Reformation, our
worship reflects our roots in the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox traditions. We celebrate seven
Sacraments, the two Great Sacraments established by Jesus, Holy Baptism and
Eucharist (or the Lord’s Supper), and the five lesser Sacraments, healing, reconciliation (confession
and absolution), marriage, confirmation, and ordination. Holy
Communion, which is celebrated each week, is open to all baptized Christians.
Foundation
The Anglican Church recognizes two authoritative books: The Holy Bible as the Word of
God containing all things necessary to salvation, and the Book of Common Prayer which contains the
structure of our worship services. The Anglican Church of the Resurrection uses
the contemporary language version of the Book of Common Prayer (1979 version). The essence of
our beliefs is expressed by the historic creeds (Nicene and Apostles) of the church.
Ministers
Our ministers are Bishops, Priests, Deacons and Lay People. Our Bishops are part of
the
historic lineage that can trace their ordination back to the time of the Apostles.
Anglicans
believe that all baptized Christians are ministers of the church. Every Christian
is
commissioned by Jesus to spread the Good News of
Salvation through Jesus’ atoning sacrifice on the Cross.
